IRON CHEF – BATTLE OF THE FLORIDA SEAFOOD
HIGHLIGHTS 28TH ANNUAL TASTE OF COLLIER!
April 11, 2011 - NAPLES, FLA. - It's the 28th Annual Taste of Collier, a long-standing Naples
tradition, sponsored this year by Iberia Bank. The afternoon of food and fun is Sunday, May 1 from
Noon - 4 p.m. at Bayfront Place in Naples, FL. Free parking is available and located at the corner of
Goodlette-Frank Road and Fifth Avenue South.
"Of course, it's all about the food and showcasing our area's best restaurants," said Ray Singer, Event Chairman. "But there will also be plenty of things the entire family can enjoy."
This year, an Iron Chef Competition sponsored by Ted Todd Insurance highlights the event. "Battle of the Florida Gulf Seafood" will bring new excitement as the area's top chefs demonstrate their skills and Master Chefs judge and name the winner. The competition is a collaboration of the University of Florida Sea Grant initiative and the Caxambas Chapter of the American Culinary Federation. Featured Chefs include: Chris Jones Executive Chef, The Old Collier Golf Club & ACFCC President; James Hanyzeski, Certified Master Chef and Culinary Arts Instructor, Golden Gate High School; Brian Roland, CCC, Executive Chef, M Waterfront Grille; Marv Messenger, Executive Chef, Pelican Marsh G&CC; Chef Neall Bailey, Executive Chef of LaPlaya Beach & Golf
Resort; and William Hanzalik, Executive Chef, Hamilton Harbour Yacht Club.
Back by popular demand is the Naples Bayfront Boat Show sponsored by the Marine Industry Association of Collier County. Boating enthusiasts can tour and explore more than 40 different boats in the Marina and will be open 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. that day.
"It's a community event the entire family can enjoy," Singer said. The Taste of Collier kicks-off at noon with a welcome by Naples Mayor Bill Barnett. The live auction hosted by Trey Radel, Host of Fox News Radio Show, "Daybreak" will be held again and feature fantastic packages from hotel stays to fine jewelry to in-home Chef prepared dinners for eight. The afternoon will be filled with live music featuring Clint Wiley's None Other Band, an ice carving contest and fruit carving demonstrations.
Admission is $5 per person, and children five and under are free. Food tastings are priced from $3 to $5 and proceeds will benefit the Collier County Chapter of the American Red Cross, St. Matthew's House and the ProStart culinary programs for local high school students. This year's commemorative artwork was designed by graphic designer, Mona Johns of Mona Lisa Graphic Design.
